Eating Habits that May Reduce Your Risk of Developing Prostate Cancer

You can get Vitamin E supplements or get it through your diet from sunflower oil, various nuts, bran, and whole wheat.
* Selenium. Some research findings show that selenium is only helpful for prostate health if you are already taking a multivitamin or a vitamin E supplement. That means if you take selenium, be sure to take these are well so you can get the maximum benefit. Selenium can also be more beneficial to smokers than nonsmokers.
* Beta Carotene. This is the nutrient found in carrots that is essential for good vision and healthy eyes. It actually has many health benefits, including cancer prevention in the prostate, head, neck, breast, stomach and lung cancer. It works by boosting the white blood cells in your blood that attack cancer and other diseases. Besides carrots, you can find beta carotene in squash, spinach, collards, sweet potatoes, and many other green leafy, yellow, or orange vegetables.
* Omega 3 fatty acids. These are the monounsaturated fats found in various types of fish, including; salmon, mackerel, sardines, herring, halibut, tune, and lake trout. You can also find these fats in soy, kidney, and navy beans. It is important to get three to four servings of this a week to prevent prostate cancer. If you can't eat this much, you can find supplements, but be sure to research them for safety. Ask your doctor before starting this or any supplement.

THE CAUSE OF PEANUT ALLERGY



Peanuts can be found in many foods and candies, especially chocolate candy, and can cause severe allergic reactions. So it is important for those with peanut allergy reactions to check all labels carefully, and if prescribed, carry epinephrine at all times because a severe reaction could lead to an anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis is a sudden, severe, potentially fatal, systemic allergic reaction that can involve various areas of the body (such as the skin, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, and cardiovascular system). Anaphylactic reactions can be mild to life threatening.

Peanut allergy is caused by an immune system malfunction. Your immune system identifies peanuts as harmful, triggering the production of antibodies to neutralize the peanut protein (allergen). The next time you come in contact with peanuts, these antibodies recognize it and signal your immune system to release histamine and other chemicals into your bloodstream. Histamine and other body chemicals cause a range of allergic signs and symptoms. Histamine is partly responsible for most allergic responses, including runny nose, itchy eyes, dry throat, rashes and hives, nausea, diarrhea, labored breathing and even anaphylactic shock.

Exposure to peanuts can occur in three ways. The first way is direct contact which is the most common cause of peanut allergy is direct contact with peanuts. This means exposure via all routes of contact -- usually through eating peanuts, but including kissing or touching someone who's been in direct contact with peanuts. The second way is through cross-contact this is usually through the unintended introduction of peanuts into a product. It's generally the result of exposure to peanuts during processing or handling of a food product. The last way is through inhalation, where an allergic reaction may occur if you inhale dust or aerosols containing peanuts, such as that of peanut flour or peanut oil cooking spray.

Although it has usually been thought that kids with peanut allergies a doomed to a lifetime without peanuts, it is now said that some of them may well outgrow the peanut allergy with time.

Rest is just as Important as Exercise



When you get started on a workout, you want to keep it going strong, but you have to remember that you can do too much. Working out as much as you can, for as long as you can, and as hard as you can, is more likely to get you injured than in shape. Our bodies require regular rest to heal and to function optimally.

Every time you work out, you create damage in your muscles and other tissue. It's too small to really notice, but it's still there. Resting your body allows these tiny injuries to heal themselves. If you don't get enough rest between workouts, these tiny problems can add up to a larger, more serious injury. Rest also gives our muscles time to build themselves, so if you never get adequate rest, you won't see significant improvement. Not only should you take adequate rests between each individual workout, you should also alternate light and heavy workouts during the week, and have a much lighter week every 6 weeks or so.

In addition to just "taking a break" between workouts, you need to get adequate sleep at night as well. Not only does sleep help us rest and relax our brain, it also allows us to relax and repair our bodies. Not getting enough rest will leave you sluggish, not at your peak performance, and will eventually make you ill. While it is recommended to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, you should remember that each person is different. Some need only 3 or 4 hours of sleep to function properly, while others may need 9 or 10 to feel refreshed.

One type of rest people don't usually consider when thinking about a workout is rest from stress. A workout provides stress to our body, but it's not the only thing that does. If we are mentally and emotionally stressed throughout the day, it shows physically. If your body is in a constant state of stress, you're muscles wont relax and heal, even when you're just sitting there. If you are showing symptoms of fatigue and feel overworked, you should try adding yoga, Pilates, of meditation to your routine. These will truly relax your body and allow it to get the rest it needs.

If you don't rest between workouts, get sleep at night, or distress at all, you're not only more at risk for getting hurt, you're probably also pretty tired. If you don't feel like you have the energy to get out of bed in the morning because you've worked out too hard, chances are you probably won't feel like exercising either. By doing too much too soon, you're actually likely to decrease how much you work out in the future.

So remember, working harder isn't always better. Take time to relax and let your body prepare for its next challenge.
